  • Walgwan’s External Councilor offers individual services to youth in the neighboring communities of Gesgapegiag, Listuguj and Ugpi’Ganjig. She also coordinates prevention activities at the primary and high schools in these communities. Workshops topics include self-esteem, conflict resolution, management of peer pressure, stress management, etc. They are adapted to the aboriginal culture and to the needs of the various sexes and age groups. In order to ensure a cohesive approach for the health and wellness of the youth, the Counselor works in partnership with various community resources such as social services, police services, group homes, health services, orientation counselors and employees of the  National Native Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program (NNADAP).This external consultation service is in a constant state of evolution thanks to the  positive comments from clients and parents.
